“If you’ll walk across my camera, I will flash the world your story”

I’ve been back in Southern California for three months. While I’ve been home I’ve been working on a lot of projects and shoots. One of the things I’ve been working on has been head shots and shooting models. Lucky for me one of my friends from high school is a model and actress. Basically, when we both have time we jump in my truck find a place to shoot. These are some of the shots I’ve taken in the last few weeks.

Jackie Henley has performed with The Dollface Dames as Rosalie Herveaux, and shot various short films including “Raincheck Romance” and “Asking Alice”. Currently she shares a college football show with Maranda Nichols, and Chloe Potts at WatchTheReplacements.com, and is on a fantasy football show HotTubSleeperPicks.com.

Love and marriage, They go together like… Film and Camera?

Last month I photographed my first wedding… Not gonna lie it was pretty nerve racking. It is a lot of responsibility and not something you can really go back and fix if you screw up. The part that made me the most nervous wasn’t the ceremony or the reception, it actually was the set up shots of the bridal party. Lets be honest, I’ve worked with friends in small groups for shoots & crying little kids for team photos but keeping track of about 20 people, mostly adults, during an event, like a wedding is insane.

Once everyone settled down and got into the flow of things, it went pretty well.

Ok, so they were perfect but still… (jk)

The reception was just a matter of figuring out the color balance and going to work… I wish. So the lighting changed every 30 seconds as the sun set, people moved, and I moved around the room but I worked through it, while others worked it on the dance floor.

Chris and Rachele thank you very much for letting me photograph your wedding. Congratulations and many happy years together!!

  • Flash A-Ah It’s a Miracle (New Equipment Day)

    New Equipment Day!!!!

Ordered a new battery for my Norman 200b flash. I ordered a 200B Lead Acid Battery w/Auto Charger from Dasaga Photographic in OK City, OK.  http://dasaga.com/

The battery with the external charger is $80.00 plus shipping. I went with the external charge batteries to make sure that the problem was with the battery and not the units. I was nervous about ordering batteries from a third party company so I only ordered one.

I charged it up and I tested it out it refreshes fast, even at full power I could rapid fire for a few shots. I can’t wait to get out and test it with some subjects. I’m defiantly placing an order for a second battery. I’ll post sample shots soon.

In honor of the update to my flashes…

  • They Call The Thing Rodeo

I shot the San Dimas Rodeo today. Next time I will bring my 300mm F2.8 lens or my doubler. 200mm was not quite enough to get a clean background and to avoid having to crop alot of the images. These are a few shots and there are more on my Facebook page for NAS Images, and Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/36965206@N07/).

  • Rock Climbing Photography

This was my first attempt at photographing rock climbing. I struggled a little with the lighting and angles but not a bad first time. I am going to order an ascender and webbing, to help me get in to the air above the climbers.

  • IPhone Location Tags

The location tags for photos taken in Hawaii.

My favorite IPhone Features is the location tags it puts on pictures you take. It helps me remember where I’ve shot so I can revisit it or not repeat. I know there are more advanced ways of doing the same thing but I love that my phone does this on its own.

Some of the shots I took at these locations can be found here:
